Attribute: Anhydrous lanthanum chloride is a white powdery crystal with a density of 3.842g/cm3, a melting point of 860 ºC, and a boiling point>1000 ºC.
It is easily soluble in water and decomposes in hot water. Insoluble in ethanol and pyridine, insoluble in ether and benzene. Anhydrous lanthanum chloride strongly absorbs moisture and easily decomposes into chlorine oxides when heated in air.
